Adhesive + panel · Made in the USA

PUR laminating adhesives.

Cattie codes, PurLam brand. Moisture-cure reactive hot melt for the jobs that fail EVA — and liquid PU, PUD, and 2K where the line needs them. We specify and sell with Cattie Adhesives. Eco-Pur reacts in Romeoville. The sandwich panels next door are hot-melt PUR only — no liquid in the laminate.

  • Steel and fiberglass door lamination
  • Engineered wood flooring lamination
  • Transportation panel lamination

Cattie HMPUR grades

Named codes from cattieadhesives.com. Sold as PurLam. Where viscosity or apply-temp is blank, Cattie has not published it — we will not invent it. SDS/TDS on request.

Grade Open time Viscosity What it is for
8600 4 min 4,000 cps @ 250°F · run 235–275°F Fast tack. Cabinets, steel, wood, EPS, cores. Extrusion or roll coater. 10 hr cure.
8463 3–4 min 9,000 cps @ 250°F Very fast tack, high green strength. RV panels / RV construction. 8 hr cure.
8493 45 min+ 9,000 cps @ 250°F Long open. EPS foam; flexible bonds to steel, wood, foams. 2–4 hr cure.
8927 7 min Not published Composite panel lamination. Honeycomb, EPS, steel, wood, laminate. Roller. Low initial melt point.
8940 / 8940M 9 min Not published Same substrates as 8927. Cattie RV page uses both 8940 and 8940M — we list both, we do not invent what M means.
8937 2–3 min Not published Carpet, felt, honeycomb, steel, ABS, PVC. Automotive assemblies. Roller. Low initial melt point.

Page-level Cattie PUR claims (not SKU-specific): high green strength options; about −40°F to +300°F after cure; 50–80% of final strength in 3–6 hours; full reactive cure typically 24–36 hours; 100% solids. Packs: cartridges, foil slugs, pails, drums. Bonds wood, plastics, foam, metals, fiberglass, nylon, rubber, coated papers. SIP / door / garage door / RV walls. Pigmented and prepolymer options. Match by TDS/SDS.

PE / PP — do not merge claims. Cattie states untreated polyethylene and polypropylene are poor bonds and usually need corona treatment. That caveat applies to the Cattie HMPUR grades above. Eco-Pur HMPUR 12-3000 is the only named grade whose public TDS claims excellent adhesion to PE and PP. We keep those claims on 12-3000 only, and we still qualify the bond on your line.

Partner-plant grade · Eco-Pur, supplied through PurLam / Cattie

HMPUR 12-3000

Hot-melt polyurethane for general assembly and hard-to-bond lamination. Public TDS (Titan / Eco-Pur, Jan 2021): excellent adhesion to PVC, ABS, PE, and PP. Swirl spray, slot nozzle, roller. Extra cross-link density for heat resistance. We skip 12-3006 — the Titan listing is messy and contradictory.

Typical viscosity10,000 cps ± 2,000 (TDS). SDS lists ~4,000 mPas @ 120°C — both are source values; they do not match.
Open time90 seconds
Cure8–12 hours
Apply235–275°F
VOC0 g/L
ColorWhite solid at room temp; white liquid at 250°F
Specific weight9.3 lb / gallon
Shelf lifeOne year (TDS)

Packs (TDS): 55-gal drums (lined and unlined); 5-gal pails with and without foil liner; 2 kg slugs with foil pouch (5 in. dia.); 300 ml aluminum cartridges.

This is the only Eco-Pur adhesive grade with a public TDS. Eco-Pur’s own downloads page still says “files coming soon.” PE/PP adhesion is a 12-3000 TDS claim, not a Cattie-grade claim.

Liquid moisture-cure PUR

Sold as adhesive. Not used in PurLam sandwich panels — the plant constraint is hot-melt PUR only, no resin or liquid in the laminate.

8730

1K cold liquid moisture-cure · 7,000 cps @ 74°F · apply 74°F

Cattie’s general-purpose liquid PUR (“our version of Gorilla Glue”). Carpet, wood, foam, metal, most plastics. Permanent rigid bond. Not for vinyl (PVC), PP, PE, or polyolefins. Not tacky when first applied — clamp during initial cure. Family copy: assembly time 20–30 minutes; apply above 50°F.

8932

Liquid moisture cure (LMC) · 10 min open · visc not published

Lamination of panel products. EPS foam, honeycomb, steel, wood, laminate. Roller applicator. Cattie notes year-round processing is possible. Still a liquid — not the chemistry in the Romeoville sandwich stack.

PUD — membrane / 3D doors

Water-borne polyurethane dispersions for vacuum-forming vinyl and PVC foils to particle board (kitchen doors, furniture, 3D laminating). Not used in PurLam sandwich panels.

7-859

2-part water-borne PUD · with hardener 7-560

Workhorse membrane-press grade. Vinyl/PVC foils to particle board. Wide operating window. Increased bond, heat, and water resistance with the isocyanate hardener.

7-866

2-part water-borne PU · with hardener 7-560

Same process, specified for high-gloss vinyl/PVC foils. Heat and water resistance.

7-883WH

1-part water-borne PU

Membrane pressing / vacuum forming vinyl/PVC foils to particle board. Doors, cabinets, 3D. No hardener required.

Hardeners 7-560 · 7-1001

Crosslinkers for 7-859 / 7-866

7-560 — isocyanate crosslinker; water, heat, bond. 7-1001 — aliphatic PU crosslinker at 5% mix; hard-to-bond PS foam, cedar, plastics; pot life > 8 hr; non-yellowing.

2K liquid PU — floor and wall install

Not a panel-laminating adhesive. Named because Cattie already publishes them and a PurLam buyer may ask.

7-3029

Two-component polyurethane for floor-covering materials on smooth, solid surfaces. Mix A+B; cures to a tough, flexible film.

7-3040

Two-part, solvent-free polyurethane for installing wall panels on clean, dry, sound walls. Non-absorbent surfaces, and absorbent surfaces in severe-use / wet / temperature-swing areas.

Purge

PUR-Purge-1000

Not an adhesive. Cleaning compound to purge moisture-cure PUR from hot-melt applicators so cured melt does not clog machines and tips. Apply 250–350°F. 7,000 cps at 350°F.

Custom formulate and toll

Match by TDS, SDS, or the grade you already run. Pigmented reactive hot melts and prepolymer options. Eco-Pur reactors, batches 10 lb to 10,000 lb. PurLam sells it. Use the quote form — choose PUR adhesive (HMPUR), liquid PU, or toll batch.

Honest note. Eco-Pur’s public downloads still say “files coming soon.” We are not inventing Eco-Pur SKUs to fill that gap. Named Eco-Pur grade on this site: HMPUR 12-3000 only (12-3006 skipped). Named Cattie codes are the table above. Full SDS/TDS on request — quote form or 800-249-0337.

FAQ

What is PUR hot melt?

A 100% solids, moisture-curing polyurethane. You apply it hot. It sets like a hot melt, then cross-links with ambient moisture into a thermoset. That cross-link is the heat, cold, and moisture resistance. Liquid PU is the room-temperature cousin: not tacky when first applied, so parts need clamp or press during initial cure.

Which grades do you actually name?

Cattie HMPUR: 8600, 8463, 8493, 8927, 8940/8940M, 8937. Partner-plant Eco-Pur HMPUR 12-3000. Liquid: 8730, 8932. PUD: 7-859, 7-866, 7-883WH plus hardeners 7-560 and 7-1001. 2K: 7-3029, 7-3040. Purge: PUR-Purge-1000. Nothing else is invented on this site.

Is there a minimum on panels?

No MOQ on panels. Adhesive toll starts at 10 lb. The panel plant uses hot-melt PUR only — no liquid in the laminate. Ask for adhesive, panel, or both on one quote.

Are the adhesives and panels made in the USA?

Yes. Cattie formulates, specifies, and sells from Quakertown, PA. Eco-Pur reacts and laminates in Romeoville, IL. Custom formulate when the catalog grade is wrong.

Will it bond untreated PE or PP?

Cattie HMPUR grades: generally no, unless corona-treated. Eco-Pur 12-3000 TDS claims excellent adhesion to PE and PP. Those are different source documents. We do not merge them, and we qualify on your substrates.
